New NIH policies and reminders of best practices

Dear Graduate Students,

As finals start to roll around, things can get pretty hectic. As a heads up, please keep in mind that ALL forms that need a signature from the Dean need to come to us 2 weeks prior to the deadline date.

General announcement:
For help filling out your grant/fellowship applications, please visit http://ogsrweb2.ucsd.edu/fellowships/FAQ_Department_Staff.htm and refer to step 2.

**Note: I will NEVER be the signing official on these forms; I only coordinate your forms for signatures! Please make sure your application is completely filled out with the correct information before you hand it over for signatures. If you have questions or are not sure about something, please email me and I can look it over before you give us copies for signature.

-NIH specific information-
Here is a link to the NIH deadlines: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/submissionschedule.htm Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the deadline dates and plan accordingly! (Remember; we need 2 weeks in advance for signatures!)

Also, if this is your first time applying for an NIH NRSA, please download the appropriate forms here: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/416/phs416.htm They (NIH) will only be accepting this form from here on out, as will I.

**NEW SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT!!!** Please have your PI initial and date the second page of the application next to their name and information to show that they have reviewed your application. Since the new format for the NRSA application does not require your PI or you to sign off on it, we need to ensure that the proposals are being read by the PI. WE WILL NOT BE SIGNING ANY APPLICATIONS THAT DO NOT HAVE THIS REQUIREMENT MET!!
